Kin Kin is a Noosa Hinterland based family run business, passionate about making local, all natural cleaning products that actually work. They use only ingredients we would put in our own backyard or close to your children's skin.

Dad - Felix - is a PhD-qualified formulator, who used to work for OMO. His skills level is unique in the world of eco products - we hope you will notice the difference when using their products.

Mum - Sandy - is in charge of production and also develops our packaging designs.

Their kids - Marijn and Pippa - help as well, at times.

what's behind our products?
If we don't trust an ingredient with our own children's skin or our own backyard, then we don't use it. After all, we're a family not a big company. We're just fortunate to know how to formulate leading edge cleaning products, based on previous work experience.

Uncompromised cleaning

Formulating a detergent is a bit of an art. We're skilled in this art like no other eco brand, due to our past experience of formulating OMO detergents. Based on the combination of these skills and 100% natural ingredients, we're so proud people often tell us these are natural products that actually work!

Free of any toxic ingredients

Over 95% of Australian laundry detergents, including virtually all eco-brands, contain alcohol ethoxylate as a main component. This ingredient is classified as very toxic to aquatic organisms and labelled with a dead tree, dead fish label:

Under European and US conditions this ingredient has been cleared for use, and this has been copied into Australian legislation. We believe that the Australian habits and conditions are different, with more direct exposure to backyards and water systems. Hence Kin Kin naturals products are free from alcohol ethoxylate, or any other toxic ingredient.

Safe - also for gardens, greywater & septics

Formulated with care to leave no traces behind, we believe our products are the most garden & greywater and septic-friendly products in Australia, being

plant (coconut) and mineral based
free of toxic ingredients, phosphate and high alkalinity
at least 95% less sodium than regular detergents

Sodium ('salt') is damaging for both soil and plants, causing clogging of soil and the dehydration of plants. The majority of Sodium salt used in detergents is used as just a filler. The remainder can often be replaced - as we do - by Potassium-based alternatives which are actually beneficial for plants and soil.
On average 18 kg Sodium salt per year ends up in gardens or the wider Australian environment for every Australian household using a regular laundry powder. Using Kin Kin naturals, the Sodium salt loading is reduced to only 100g per year, a safe level.

our full products and each of our ingredients individually exceed Australian standard AS4351
this also means we do not use the petrochemical surfactant called 'LAS' (linear alkylbenzene sulphonate) which is poorly biodegradable under anaerobic (low oxygen) conditions that may occur in septic systems and soil.

Skin friendly

We select our ingredients based on common sense and the latest dermatologic literature. You will find no SLS, LAS or any toxic or skin sensitizing ingredients in Kin Kin naturals products.

Local = sustainable

If you consider the amount of carbon emissions involved in transporting heavy products like detergents, we believe that eco-friendly brands should be made as locally as possible. Compared to overseas produced brands, our products reduce carbon emissions by at least 85% - and even 95% if our products are sold within Queensland.

Dose a little, save more

Our products are ultra concentrated. This saves packaging material and avoids needless shipping around of water and fillers. Please be aware of this concentration and use only the recommended dose: 35ml for our laundry liquids and only a few drops for our dishwash liquids - you'll enjoy our products for longer and save money.
