Sustainability Review
The Australian Government has a very minimal approach to environmental policies concerning the impact of government operations on the environment and have very little support or commitment to reduce our impact on the environment and to adopt practices that use resources sustainably.
I've been in and out of peoples homes for 8 years and only a small percentage of the average household is aware of what sustainability is nor are the general populace even remotely interested in hearing what sustainability is. Therefore, how is it even possible that Australia can transition to using sustainable resources when the population don't understand what those resources are or how to use them.
In 2013 The Australian Bureau of Statistics surveyed Australian Households.
Australians told us that acting to sustain the natural environment and its resources for the long term was important to business, government, communities and society. People felt that how we use the environment’s resources affects our present wellbeing and the wellbeing of future generations. In relation to this, people told us about the importance of environmental resources that provide the basis for food and industrial production. Australians supported the development of adaptive technologies and strategies to enable environmental sustainability. Many thought it was important to be aware of the impact of human activities or lifestyles on the environment, particularly those that either moderate resource depletion or threaten long term sustainability.
2016-Australia: good water, bad energy. Australia, with some of the world's highest carbon emissions per person, rates poorly on the clean energy and climate change goals. It also falls down on the environmental goals, with high levels of solid waste and land clearing as well as loss of biodiversity.

The Australian Government aims to improve the environmental performance of Australian Government departments and agencies, by providing advice. Australians supported the development of adaptive technologies and strategies to enable environmental sustainability.
In 2019 Australian Econews reported that we can celebrate that coalmines where suffering an economic downfall and that Solar Power was becoming the preferred cleaner source of power. Congratulations Australia for this great effort over the years.
In view of the current food market I would thoroughly recommend a deeper investigation into your packaging labels and make sure that what you consume is coming from sustainable farms which are fully aware of theimpactthere food production systems are having on the environment.
We also need to consider our consumption labels with regard to industrial production and more thoroughly investigate the sustainability practices of our manufacturers.
Always remember that as the end user and consumer we have the control and our everyday choices and how we spend our dollar is what sustains our environment and everything in it.
